KNOXVILLE â For at least one University of Tennessee pre-med student pursuing a concentration in neuroscience and a minor in public health, the study of history is making her current studies easier.
Ashlynn Malone, who graduated from Sevier County High School in 2019, participated in approximately 12 National History Day events during her years as a middle and high school student.
Those experiences led to an invitation for Malone to judge the most recent East Tennessee History Day competition, a precursor to state and national events.
âI decided to go for it,â Malone said of volunteering with the East Tennessee Historical Society, which organizes the event now in its 20th year.
