After three years of steady growth, the Quad Cities Yoga Foundation, founded by alumni from Western Illinois University’s School of Education, is seeking to grow their professional development and yoga in classrooms services in the Quad Cities for those who would benefit from yoga, and have the need for the services such as those exiting jails, drug rehabilitation centers, and those who cannot afford to pay for yoga classes.
April 21, 2021 MACOMB/MOLINE, IL - Six students graduating from Western Illinois University at the end of the Spring 2021 semester have received the highest recognition from their colleges for their overall academic excellence by being named a College Scholar.
Faculty in each of the University s four academic colleges; Global Education and Outreach and the Centennial Honors College each select a graduating senior as the college s outstanding student. Students graduating as College Scholars have satisfied the criteria of excellence established by their individual academic college s faculty members. A Departmental Scholar is an outstanding degree candidate in an academic major as determined by the faculty in the major department. An Honors Scholar is a student in the Centennial Honors College who has completed a set of honors requirements and has achieved a grade point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.

April 13, 2021 MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – The Centennial Honors College at Western Illinois University will host the annual Thomas E. Helm Undergraduate Research Conference, which will be held in a virtual format Monday-Friday, April 19-23, with a special live session from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, April 22, concluding with the keynote presentation at 5 p.m. by distinguished WIU alumna Kirsten Dillender.
The Undergraduate Research Conference was initiated by the Centennial Honors College in 2003, and was named in honor of Thomas E. Helm in 2009. It is a celebration of research, scholarship and creative activities undertaken by WIU undergraduate students.
Because of COVID-19 protocols, many participating students on the Macomb and Quad Cities campuses will upload recorded scholarly presentations and performances to a Western Online course page, which can be viewed and commented on throughout the week of April 19-23. Anyone with a wiu.edu email account can self-register for the conferen
