Lets talk about the significance of this week, august 16, 1920, and the key role it played in the 19th amendment. Yes, in august of 1920, 35 states had ratified the 19th but the 36th state was elusive. Thatwere 36 states at time. According to the constitution, there was a three fourths number of states that had to ratify to make the 19th amendment part of the constitution.
