MacNab Presbyterian Church is in rough shape.
And it s 165 years old, after all, so it s no surprise. It s also directly beside a busy rail corridor, enduring the not-so-good vibrations that entails, and in the heart of a big city, with exposure to damaging pollution.
But the church is also a beauty. Its stone was cut from the nearby Niagara Escarpment, and the mottled, dark grey colour makes it look like a black-and-white photo. With a square-based central tower holding an arched door that matches arched windows on either side, the construction is simple, regal and classic.
