In August, the district established a school safety task force at the start of the school year. The task force has met on a monthly basis since and established a project plan for its work.
Centegix will integrate Ident-A-Kid’s IVM software, which can manage and track all school traffic, including staff, student tardiness, and visitors, who scan their driver’s licenses or other acceptable ID. The software reads the barcode information on the license and conducts and returns data searches on custody issues, sex offenders, and other banned persons across 42 states. Information can also be entered manually.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri spoke about the Guardian Program and pointed out flaws in the implementation of the Alyssa's Alert law in Florida.
