Winfree’s AEW Dark: Elevation (Ep. 8) Review 5.03.21
Hey there people, another Monday so here’s another episode of AEW Dark: Elevation. We’re still clocking in at under 2 hours, though cramming 14 matches into 100 minutes seems like an odd choice. But who knows how it will turn out. We’ve got Jon Moxley, Miro, and Orange Cassidy among some other recognizable names performing tonight so let’s get to the action. Match #1: Miro vs. Will Allday
This will not be pretty. Miro easily overpowers Allday then clubs him down. There’s a brief flurry from Allday but Miro shuts that down with a belly to belly suplex. More Miro offense, he’s just playing with his food now while yelling at the crowd to send him champions. Allday eventually avoids a corner rush and sends Miro over the top rope. Suicide dive from Allday, they botched Miro catching him so they repeat the spot and then Allday sends Miro into the post. Back in the ring Allday jumps into a thrust kic
AEW Dark: Elevation (Episode 8)
Taped in Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place
Elevation started with ring announcer Justin Roberts introducing Miro to the ring as his entrance played… Tony Schiavone and Paul Wight were on commentary…
1.
Miro vs. Will Allday. Miro dominated until Allday avoided a splash in the ropes. Allday hit a Tope Suicida and then tried for another but Miro caught him. Allday slipped out and pushed Miro into the ring post. Allday jumped off the top rope but was met with a thrust kick. Miro then locked Allday in Game Over for the tap out win.
Miro beat Will Allday by submission in 4:30.
Hangman Page defeated Spencer Slade (1:21)
Slade was born deaf and wears amateur headgear and hearing aids. Page killed him with a fallaway slam and lariats in the corners. A pop-up into a powerbomb and cradle got Page the win.
Britt Baker (w/ Rebel) defeated Tesha Price (5:28)
This was a bit of a struggle early on as it didn’t seem like they were on the same page. Baker hit a DDT followed by an air raid crash. From there, Baker went right into the Lockjaw for the submission.
Jurassic Express defeated Midas Black and Jay Lyon (1:49)
This was a comedy squash. Lyon and Black are the team that does the circus lion/liontamer gimmick, so this match with Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus seemed like a natural. Lyon had some kind of steak (allegedly) hanging out of his mouth. Jungle Boy pinned Lyons and Black in a pile after a pair of fireman’s carry slams.
Winfree’s AEW Dark: Elevation (Ep. 6) Review 4.19.21
Alright everyone, another episode of AEW Dark: Elevation is here and that means so am I. Oh hey, the runtime for this one is about 100 minutes. That’s a big improvement over the 2.5 hours last week. We’ve got Orange Cassidy tonight, plus allegedly Kenny Omega will be in action teaming with Konosuke Takeshita to take on the Sydal brothers. I’m going to apologize in advance if I’m a little off this week, I started coming down with something yesterday and I’ve had an annoying head cold going today. We’ll let’s get into it.
AEW Dark: Elevation (Episode 6)
Taped in Jacksonville, Florida at Daily’s Place
Tony Schiavone and Paul Wight were on commentary…
1.
“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Spencer Slade. Page faked a Buckshot lariat as he entered the ring making Slade jump. Page with repeated strikes and clotheslines. Page stacked Slade with a powerbomb for the pinfall.
Adam Page beat Spencer Slade by pinfall in 1:30.
After the match Page gave Rick Knox a beer as Tony and Paul hyped Kenny Omega appearing tonight.
Bailin’s Breakdown: Very quick match, not much else to say about that one. I guess of note though Page won without using the Buckshot Lariat, opting for the powerbomb instead.
