so we are going to get them out. the first one, because we identified him in numerous cell extractions. he will fight us. he will try to get out of his cell. determined to make a stand, slagle mounts a defense with the few meager items he has in his cell. he has jammed his door with a hardened papier-mache-like mixture with wet newspapers and toothpaste. but with the extraction team on its way, the conflict is about to come to a head. [ bleep ]. calm down. every one of you [ bleep ], [ bleep ], i m going to start with, you guyed are [ bleep ]. we need more. what do you want to know? robertson, serving a 60-year sentence for murder has spent most of the last two years in house one. why are you in here? in house one. it s a long story. i been being assault sod i assault people back. i refuse to let myself be assaulted and not fight back. robertson not only fights with other inmates. he fights with staff as well. i was disrespected. i decided to make the guys do a cell extraction. days before our interview, the prison s correctional emergency response team had to forcibly remove robertson from his cell for refusing to follow orders. these cell extractions are videotaped by the prison for legal
safety is utmost concern. when violence does erupt, officers are left with no option but to extract inmates from their cells by force. shoe facility captain r.j. andrews oversees cell extractions on a weekly basis. we do wear protective gear in a cell extraction or use of force, calculated-type use of force. but on some occasions, staff do get injured. i have seen occasions where staff have been injured to point of broken arms. i have seen staff receive feces thrown in their face. i have seen staff where they actually had their headgear broken into pieces because they was hit so hard when they entered the cell. after extracting him from a shower cell in the crisis unit, officers are transporting this inmate to the shoe for destroying prison property. he beat out a window with a handle. we had to go inside the cell, take him out.
