⚾ Kansas Drops Series Finale to No 5 Texas

Eli Davis started for the Jayhawks and pitched through four innings, facing 23 Longhorn hitters. On the final day of the series, the Texas offense was firing on all cylinders. The Longhorns drove in four runs in the top of the third and added two more in the fourth. The Jayhawks scored a run in the bottom of the fourth when Tavian Josenberger drove in Brett Vosik on a single to left. Kansas loaded the bases after the single with only one out. A double play ended the inning in the next at bat. Everhett Hazelwood, Steve Washilewski and Ryan Vanderhei all pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Vanderhei recorded a pair of strikeouts, while Hazelwood recorded Kansas’ first strikeout of the day.

⚾ Kansas Wins Series Over Omaha After Doubleheader Victories

Kansas moved to 8-6 on the season, while Omaha moved to 5-8. Game 1  (Kansas 9, Omaha 0) Kansas defeated Omaha in the first game of a doubleheader behind a brilliant complete-game shutout performance by Larsen on Saturday morning. Larsen made his third start of the year and threw the first complete game shutout of the season. The righty struck out six batters and only allowed one extra base hit through nine innings of work. The last Jayhawk to throw a complete-game shutout was Ryan Cyr, May 4, 2019 against Texas. With Larsen on the mound, the KU offense got to work. The Jayhawks took a one-run lead in the top of the third after a double by James Cosentino and an error that allowed him to score.

⚾ Kansas Beats SLU in Extras to Claim Series

ST. LOUIS – It took 12 innings, but the Kansas Jayhawks defeated the St. Louis Billikens 7-5 Sunday afternoon, earning the series win in the finale of the three-game set. Kansas improved to 5-5 on the season with back-to-back wins over St. Louis, while the Billikens fell to 2-9. Eli Davis started on the mound for Kansas at the Billken Sports Center and pitched through seven innings while striking out four. Gabirel Sotomayor made a brief appearance before Daniel Hegarty carried the Jayhawks into extra innings. Kansas jumped on the board first after Maui Ahuna singled, Casey Burnham walked and Dylan Ditzenberger singled to load the bases with one out in the top of the third. A sacrifice fly by Anthony Tulimero drove in Ahuna to give the Jayhawks the lead.
