After coming to a settlement in the lawsuit over its RV-ban parking ordinance, the city of Mountain View began enforcing timed parking limits and oversized-vehicle limits on its public streets
The city of Mountain View is facing a class action lawsuit challenging laws banning RVs and other oversized vehicles from parking on the vast majority of city streets.
The suit, filed in federal court today (July 14) by six Mountain View RV residents, alleges that the parking restrictions are an unconstitutional attempt to âbanishâ low-income residents from the city under the guise of traffic safety.
âIn short, this ban punishes people for being too poor to afford permanent housing and attempts to expel them from the city of Mountain View,â attorney Sam Diamant of King & Spalding LLP said at a Wednesday press conference. âThe city of Mountain Viewâs attempt to banish RV residents is both unconstitutional and morally wrong.â
