it s important for history to talk about who he is, but i commend you for doing that. my heart is hurting. everyone i spoke to today, their heart is hurting, and they feel helpless. i m going to talk to the audience about that in just a little bit. but we ve seen this all too often. yeah. you know, anybody at home can probably remember the names of the killers in columbine but not necessarily the people the names of people who lost their lives. i feel like that s the case for a lot of mass killings in this country. we all focus on the shooter, and people learn that person s name, and they want that. they want that kind of attention. i think it s important to report on them and their motivation and everything about them. but i just don t think we should give them that kind of extended coverage. and to call listen, we have to call it what it is. that s our job without fear or favor. but also i was sitting writing the opening to my show tonight, and you again inspired me

uniforms, everything. the government opened defense production facilities all over the country. factories, they either retooled the existing ones, or they built new ones. and in some places, there were particularly large defense production facilities, either a large number for retooled plants, or a bunch of new ones that were built. one of the things that emerged quickly as a bottleneck for our country mobilizing for that war was this conundrum of where all the workers would live, who worked in these newly built and newly retooled production plants? in an already crowded city like detroit, for example, the government of 1941, realized that they re gonna have to quickly add hundreds of thousands of units of housing in order to bring in hundreds and thousands of new workers to staff these defense production facilities that were being retooled from civilian use in detroit, or in fact newly opened to make more material in that city. and that math is easy to see, right? you need t
everybody in that community in those somebody who lost a loved one, and at the tops market in east buffalo. it is just a tragedy that we will deal with, and in the way that we do. and the way we have before. and it s just a horrible familiarity to this ritual which we re going through now. yeah, i mean we are a country that has an incredible problem with mass shootings. we also have an incredible problem with political violence, particularly racially motivated, politically motivated violence. and that is something that we are never going to be new to, and it s not getting better, it s still getting worse. but it s very hard on these for days, particularly talking with people in that community, the tight-knit community who really are in a position when they know someone who was affected. we re gonna have some of the people who know somebody during this hour. thank you, rachel. thanks lawrence. thank you. thank you. i love buffalo the first day i arrived there in 1988,
