Here s where to leave unwanted El Paso medicines on Take Back Day 2021

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is having its 20th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.  The DEA and other law enforcement agencies will collect tablets, capsules and other prescription medication from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at sites in El Paso, no questions asked. Liquids and needles won t be accepted. Drug overdose deaths have increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, the DEA reported, citing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 87,200 people in the U.S. overdosed during the 12-month period ending Sept. 1, the most ever recorded in a 12-month period, the DEA said. “The latest overdose numbers are very concerning,” Kyle W. Williamson, special agent in charge of the DEA El Paso Division, said in a statement. We must work together to address this health crisis.

Public input sought on Montgomery County Cross County Trail

NORRISTOWN — The Montgomery County Planning Commission, in partnership with its consultant, NV5, has initiated work on studying the feasibility of the easternmost segment of Montgomery County’s Cross County Trail. This 6-mile-long segment, when completed, will begin at Welsh Road in Upper Dublin Township and terminate at the county’s Pennypack Trail. The project may involve several municipalities, including Upper Dublin, Upper Moreland, Horsham, Hatboro, and Bryn Athyn. “Once completed, this important connection will link at least two other well-loved regional trails together, including the Power Line and Pennypack Trails,” said Val Arkoosh, chairwoman of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “It is very exciting to see this work move forward, and we encourage residents to attend the upcoming public meeting and provide their feedback on this project.”
