REXBURG Cedar Ridge Animal Hospital was tipped off by a third-party credit card company about suspicious financial activity, which ultimately led to the arrest of a former employee earlier this month.
Police reports show on Dec. 1, the Rexburg Police Department was called to the veterinary clinic after its owner learned of multiple credit/debit card refunds. Investigators were pointed to 36-year-old Jenessa Stevens, an employee of over four years.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, the initial transactions were flagged on Nov. 24 and Nov. 30 for nearly $4,000. The money had been refunded from the business to the Mountain America Credit Union account belonging to Stevens.

REXBURG The Rexburg Police Department arrested 36-year-old Janessa Stevens of Rigby for felony grand theft, criminal fraud using a computer, and fraudulent use of a transaction card.
The charges come after an investigation into her alleged conduct as an employee at the Cedar Ridge Animal Hospital in Rexburg.
RPD Detective Chuck Kunsaitis said in a news release that over a three year time period, Stevens had fraudulently taken over $126,000 from the veterinary clinic.
Stevens was arrested on Dec. 3 and booked into the Madison County Jail. She posted a $75,000 bail and was released.

REXBURG, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK)-Rexburg Police have charged Janessa Marie Stevens, 36, of Rigby with the theft of over $126,000 from the Cedar Ridge Animal Hospital, where she worked as an employee.
Stevens was charged with grand theft, using a computer to access or obtain money by fraudulent pretenses, and fraudulent use of a financial transaction card.
Police believe the thefts happened over a 3-year time span.
Stevens posted a $75,000 bond after being booked into the Madison County Jail.
