Marion Couple Charged With Taking Thousands from Salvation Army

Matthew and Jennifer Cronan have been charged with taking about $26,600 in gift cards that were in a safe at the Salvation Army location at 1000 C Avenue NW in Cedar Rapids. Cedar Rapids Police says Matthew Cronan was working there as a seasonal worker at the time.
Authorities say that after Matthew Cronan took the gift cards, he used them to purchase items at various Walmart stores. The purchases were allegedly made from November 20, 2020, through March 9, 2021. The Cedar Rapids Police Department says Jennifer Cronan is accused of being complicit in using the gift cards to purchase items. while knowing the cards had been acquired illegally. The press release also stated that some of the items bought with the gift cards were recovered at the couple s home.
