A 19-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning and a business complex was briefly evacuated after police received a report of someone carrying a gun near Cedar Hill Middle School in Saanich, B.C.
Police say they received a report of a man walking on the field of the school with a gun around 6:10 a.m.
Island Health posted notifications about the exposures on its website Saturday. The latest additions to the list are Colquitz Middle School and Frank Hobbs Elementary School in Saanich and Drinkwater Elementary School in Duncan. The exposure at Colquitz happened on Tuesday, April 6, while the exposure at Frank Hobbs happened on Wednesday, April 7. Drinkwater s exposures happened on April 6, 7 and 8, according to the health authority. Island health says that in a school setting, an exposure is defined as the presence of lab-confirmed COVID-19 case(s) in the school during the period of communicability. There are currently 15 schools listed on the health authority s website that have seen cases of COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
VICTORIA The Greater Victoria School District is warning families of a potential COVID-19 exposure at a Saanich middle school. The exposure took place on April 1 at Arbutus Global Middle School, located at 2306 Edgelow St. The school district says that Island Health is in the final stages of contact tracing. If you have not been contacted by public health, then please be assured that your child did not have a high-risk exposure, and they should continue to attend school as long as they are not experiencing any symptoms, reads the Island Health website. Arbutus Global marks the 10th school on Vancouver Island where a COVID-19 exposure has been reported within the last two weeks.
