Affordable homes with a view of downtown Dallas? It’s happening
$1,000 lots are the reason.
Affordable homes near the historic Cedar Crest Golf Course are becoming available to lower-income residents in Dallas.
A few days ago, developers turned dirt on an empty lot that had been growing weeds for a decade across the Cedar Crest Golf Course. They were breaking ground on a $220,000 four-bedroom home, the first of 19 new houses in the Cedar Crest area that will be sold to lower-income families through a city of Dallas program.
The symbolic launch of $3.6 million in private investment in this lush but deteriorating district is a milestone for the city of Dallas’ relatively new land transfer program one worth celebrating.
