(NORTH EAST, MD) –A police response to a call for a fight in progress at a Cecil County apartment this afternoon resulted in a man being fatally wounded after shots were fired at police, wounding a sheriff’s deputy with the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office.
The deceased is a 24-year-old male. He is not being identified at this time. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates that shortly after 3:30 p.m. today, two troopers from the North East Barrack responded to an apartment in the 100 block of Chesapeake Ridge Lane in North East to assist the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office with the report of a domestic disturbance. Upon their arrival, the troopers and sheriff’s deputy made attempts to contact anyone inside the apartment. They heard a struggle and repeatedly announced they were police off

NORTH EAST, Md. (WJZ) A Cecil County Sheriff’s deputy was shot in the arm while responding to a call about a domestic dispute at a North East apartment complex Sunday afternoon.
Area police responded to a call about a fight in progress at the Chesapeake Ridge apartments around 3:30 p.m. A 24-year-old man was shot and killed by police after shots were fired at responding law enforcement, injuring the deputy.
Maryland State Police have not identified the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
NORTH EAST - A Maryland State Police trooper fatally shot a man while handling a fight-in-progress call at an apartment near North East â after gunshots rang out inside the dwelling, wounding a Cecil County Sheriff s Office deputy in the arm, police reported Sunday night.
MSP officials have not released the name of the deceased, identifying him only as a 24-year-old man.
They also have not released the name of the CCSO deputy who suffered the gunshot wound to his arm. The deputy was transported from the shooting scene to Christiana Hospital in Delaware, where he was treated for what police officials described as a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
