Clothing thief punches David Jones worker

Premium Content Subscriber only A MAN’S attempt to steal clothes from a David Jones department store erupted into a violent robbery when he attacked a female assistant, a court has heard this week. Adam Wells fled the store with a female accomplice after he punched the female victim in the face, splitting her lip open. His spree of bad behaviour included a bottle shop robbery and the use of a stolen car. Wells was brought before Ipswich District Court for sentence on Tuesday. Tattoos and a distinctive hat he wore helped police link him to the crimes. Adam John Wells, 31, from Booval, pleaded guilty to committing a robbery with violence when in company at David Jones in Westfield Garden City on April 19, 2020; and robbery of the bottle shop at the Prince Alfred Hotel in Ipswich on April 13, 2020.

Paramedic stabbed after treating overdose victim

Premium Content Subscriber only AN IPSWICH court this week heard how a paramedic was stabbed moments after waking a woman who had passed out following an accidental overdose of medication. The court heard the patient grabbed a kitchen knife after regaining consciousness, and there was a struggle before the female paramedic was unintentionally stabbed in the hand, with the gash requiring nine stitches. Tara Maree Robinson, 34, from Brassall, pleaded guilty at Ipswich District Court on Monday to serious assault causing bodily harm when armed on a paramedic performing her professional duties on October 9, 2019. Judge Dennis Lynch QC told Crown prosecutor Jacqueline Malouf she did not have to read out the agreed facts as he had a written copy before him.
