The Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Terms of Office) Bill, 2023 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha in the Monsoon Session. It was mentioned in the pending list of business brought out by the ruling dispensation ahead of the special session of Parliament.
The Parliament will discuss five bills starting September 18. Two have been passed by the Rajya Sabha, one by the Lok Sabha, and two await approval from either House.
The Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners Appointment Bill is set to be discussed in Parliament s special session. Other bills on the agenda include the Advocates (Amendment) Bill, Press and Registration of Perodicals Bill, and Post Office Bill. Additionally, there will be a discussion on the parliamentary journey of 75 years starting from Samvidhan Sabha.
During the voting on Delhi services bill, nine MPs each of YRS Congress Party and BJD had backed BJP, helping the legislation pass the Upper House test. These two parties have mostly sided with BJP on contentious legislations.
