Majority of the members of the Cebu City Council voted for the suspension of the civil works of the second to fourth packages of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) for six months.
The Cebu City Government and the Cebu Provincial Government were urged to settle the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) disagreements, as it may result in inconvenience to majority of Cebuanos if it develops into a legal standoff.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama was not pleased with the move of Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and her nephew, Cebu City Vice Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia, who both called for a halt of the civil works for the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) project.
In response to the recent removal of a skywalk near Fuente Osmeña along Osmeña Blvd., more traffic personnel were deployed to ensure the safety and smooth flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the area.
The first phase of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) is estimated to be almost 60 percent complete as of Friday, February 16, 2024, and it is scheduled to be finished by early July 2024.
