SIT serves notice asking Jarkiholi to appear for questioning

AAA The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged CD sex scandal has served notice on former Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi to appear before the officials for questioning at 5 p.m. on Tuesday (April 20).
Though the SIT has questioned Mr. Jarkiholi multiple times, it was before the victim in the case appeared and recorded her statement before a judicial magistrate and the probe team. Mr. Jarkiholi tested positive for COVID-19 on April 5 and hasn’t been available for questioning since. At present, he is in quarantine. He had skipped the BJP’s bypoll campaign in light of all this.

AAA Congress member Eshwar Khandre on Tuesday demanded that the government opt for a High Court-monitored probe into the CD scandal involving former Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi.
Participating in the debate on the State Budget in the Assembly, he said the government should write a letter in this regard to the Chief Justice of Karnataka.
He maintained that no one had trust in the Special Investigation Team looking into the issue. If the government is really interested in bringing out the truth, it should opt for a High Court-monitored probe, he argued. He described the CD episode as a warning bell for those in public life.

Kannada protagonist Vatal Nagaraj has sought a CBI probe into the “CD scandal’’ which has rocked Karnataka politics.
Speaking after participating in a demonstration in Mysuru on Wednesday against the scandal allegedly involving former Minister Ramesh Jharkiholi and against the rising fuel prices, Mr. Nagaraj said the “CD scandal’’ is like a wheel that is rolling through politics in Karnataka. “Who will be caught in the wheel is not known, but efforts are being made to make the wheel disappear’’, he said.
