Kampot deputy police chief, associates arrested over possession of 2kg drugs

Phnom Penh Municipal Court on April 8 questioned a Kampot provincial deputy police chief and two other associates for possession of nearly 2kg of drugs after Ministry of Interior anti-drug police arrested them on April 6 in Srah Chak commune of the capital’s Daun Penh district.
Deputy National Police chief Mak Chito, who is also deputy secretary-general of the National Authority for Combating Drugs, told The Post on April 8 that the three suspects had been sent to court in connection with nearly 2kg of methamphetamine (ice).
Chito identified the trio as Im Chhuon, 51, Kampot provincial deputy police chief in charge of fire and explosives; Keo Tith Mesa, 21; and Hong Kea, 61. Both men are Chhuon’s associates

Share Papa John’s set to open 15 stores in Kingdom over next three years

US-based pizza chain Papa John’s International Inc on April 7 unveiled plans to open 15 new outlets in the Kingdom over the next three years.
Papa John’s opened its flagship store in Phnom Penh late last month, the company said in a press release.
The chain’s Cambodia franchisee Peter Xu said: “We are very excited to bring Papa John’s global brand to Cambodia. Papa John’s Cambodia’s team is truly passionate about pizza. With our ‘better ingredients, better pizza’ promise, we look forward to providing local pizza lovers with quality products and outstanding services.”
Today, April 7, is the official anniversary of the start of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Probably a half million or so people estimates range wildly were murdered in just 100 days.
Most of the victims were Tutsis, though a number of moderate Hutus also were killed. Hundreds of thousands of women were raped.
The brutality was up close and personal, usually via guns, machetes, and even clubs. The murderers often were neighbors. Victims were hunted down like human prey. Those who sought shelter in churches, schools, hospitals, and elsewhere found no refuge. The bloodshed went on until there seemed to be no one else to kill.
