PHNOM PENH: Cambodia s strongman premier Hun Sen threatened quarantine-breakers with jail time on Saturday (Apr 10) and warned civil servants they could lose their jobs if they go unvaccinated, as the country grapples with a growing coronavirus caseload.
In the past two days Cambodia has registered more than 1,000 infections - many among garment workers and market vendors - bringing the country s tally to 4,081 cases and 26 deaths.
99785455 2c8116e6-bb0b-454f-8d70-0cc894730404 PHNOM PENH, April 10 (Xinhua): Cambodia has set a mechanism to provide free Covid-19 vaccines to all foreigners residing and working in the kingdom, according to a Ministry of Health (MoH) statement.
Signed by Health Minister Mam Bunheng, the statement announced that all foreigners living or working in Cambodia who are not under the umbrella of the United Nations, international organizations, bilateral organizations, international financial institutions, embassies or local organizations are eligible for vaccinations free of charge.
The Ministry of Labour is responsible for preparing the name list of foreigners holding ordinary visas (E) and having work permits issued by the Ministry of Labor, the statement said, noting that these foreigners included investors, businesspeople, skilled workers, artists, medical practitioners, teachers, athletes, consultants and experts, among others.

Cambodia logs 26th Covid fatality, 477 new infections

The Ministry of Health on April 10 reported 477 Covid-19 cases linked to the February 20 community outbreak and the 26th death from the disease.
Among the 477, five are Chinese nationals and the rest are Cambodian including two children aged 1 to 12.
Phnom Penh recorded the most cases at 454, followed by Preah Sihanouk at six; four each in Kandal, Takeo and Svay Rieng; Prey Veng at three; and one each in Kampong Thom and Siem Reap.
The ministry also reported 96 recoveries linked to the February 20 outbreak.
The deceased patient, identified as a 59-year-old Cambodian man residing in Kandouk commune of Kandal province s Kandal Stung district, died before he arrived at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital.
