Updated April 7, 2021 12:57pm The chief of police of General Trias City in Cavite has been relieved from his post amid the death of a curfew violator allegedly due to excessive punishment. Although Police Lieutenant Colonel Marlo Solero had denied that they subject curfew violators to physical exercise as punishment, two quarantine violators said otherwise, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Wednesday. The PNP said based on the sworn affidavits of the two violators, policemen made them do knee bender exercises as punishment.

During a command visit to the Cavite Police Provincial Office at Camp BGen. Pantaleon Garcia, Imus City, Cavite on Tuesday, Yu said that as frontliners, members of the Cavite police are responsible for everyone’s safety.
Yu emphasized the importance of administrative support for COVID-19 Task Force (ASCOTF) within the PNP, and the activation of the “Squad Concept” which is composed of five or six members of the PNP to ensure peace and order in their areas of assignment.
