A MUSICIAN and activist who grew up in Seaview has released a new single targeting climate change. Warm Waters Rising is the latest release from singer, saxophonist and violinist Sophie Simonds, 25, who has gradually built a YouTube presence during the past few years. Having relocated to Spain in October 2019, and spent 2020 locked in her apartment due to Covid restrictions, she was christened Saxo Sophie when performing from her window. The first member of Sophie s family to arrive on the Island was Blackall Simonds, her father s great grandfather, in 1846. He built Caversham House   now Ryde School in 1860.
