Overnight on July 4 and early on July 5, Cavalier County emergency services responded to a severe injury, an ambulance hitting a deer, an unresponsive man and a grocery store burglary.
"The North Dakota National Guard is placing sandbags downstream of the Bourbanis Dam in eastern Cavalier County, west of Cavalier, North Dakota, which the Cavalier County Sheriff's Department says is in danger of rupturing."
According to an update from Pembina County Emergency Management on Wednesday morning, sandbags placed by the Guard on Tuesday have been successful in stabilizing erosion at the Bourbanis Dam.
The North Dakota National Guard is helping to stabilize a dam in Cavalier County that is in danger of breaking and causing even worse flooding in the area.
In an announcement on Facebook early on Tuesday, May 3, the Cavalier County Sheriff’s Department said nearby North Dakota Highway 5 is closed from North Dakota Highway 1 to North Dakota Highway 32 due to “possible imminent rupture of the Dam.”
