The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, has stated that the state will inform the Cauvery water authority that water scarcity prevented the release of water to Tamil Nadu. The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee s order to release 5,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu will end on Tuesday. Karnataka has decided to stand firm on not releasing any more water. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to handle the dispute delicately without jeopardizing the state s interests or the dignity of the judiciary.
With the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC)-backed staff participating in the bandh, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (Karnataka SRTC) and Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) services are expected to be affected.
