Ceremonies for more than 1,000 MSU spring and summer 2021 graduates were held this past Saturday at the Academic-Athletic Center on the campus of MSU.
To maximize health and safety, guests were limited and separate ceremonies were held for graduates of the Caudill College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; the Elmer R. Smith College of Business & Technology and the Ernst & Sara Lane Volgenau College of Education; and the College of Science.
Elizabeth Gayle LaBreche (Class of 2021) of Morehead served as the commencement speaker representing the College of Science. She is the daughter of Marvin and Rebecca Hereford and is the wife of Clay LaBreche (Class of 2019). She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.

Many things have changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and one of Morehead State University s signature celebrations of academic research, excellence and achievement will still take place but in new ways.
The 16th Annual Celebration of Student Scholarship will be held virtually on Wednesday, April 21. Unlike previous years, students will have two participation options. They can provide their materials for asynchronous viewing by judges the week of April 21 using an appropriate online platform, or they can participate in synchronous Webex sessions from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21. This has presented some unique challenges, just as all pandemic-related things have. Our students have to think about how to alter their presentation styles to fit live and prerecorded online formats, said Evan Prellberg, coordinator of undergraduate research at MSU.
