i feel very confident. reporter: and of the many changes at clinton, one is periodic inspections daily of the catwalk area. mikaela? jean thank you so much. a seventh shark attack in the last few weeks being reported in north carolina. this time the 68-year-old man in waist-deep water injured and is in the hospital. so what is behind the sudden spike in shark attacks at crowded beaches? we are live in north carolina with the very latest. salina? reporter: officials say the man was alert and talking to first responders even though he suffered severe puncture wounds from the hip area down to his knee as well as bites on his calf. that attack happened north of here in the outer banks. it s the seventh to take place off the north carolina coast in the past month. the victims of the other attacks include a 13-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy. each of them lost an arm.

that is a realistic way to run a prison. apparently one of the accomplices rewired the electrical box in the cell that he was detained in so we could cook beef in his cell. at what point does someone not smell the burger meat cooked in the jail in that is a stoppeding. they redid things in the cell they took him behind the cell in the catwalk area so he could get to the source of the electricity and rewire that. what did he do back there? this is absurd and someone has to get a grip on the prison thing and figure out they are there for a reason. apparently it is nothing new. prisoners are allowed in the catwalk anybody with mechanical or electrical background when
on charges that he helped the inmates escape. it s believed that gene palmer delivered tools inside frozen meat to the two prisoners. palmer had been on paid leave since last week as the search for those prisoners continues. abc s linzie janis reports. reporter: this man, prison corrections officer gene palmer, under arrest in the connection with the escape of convicted killers richard matt and david sweat. those four charges consist of two counts of tampering with physical evidence, one count of promoting prison contraband and the last charge is official misconduct. he would take both matt and sweat back behind the cells in the catwalk area. that is totally inappropriate behavior for a correction officer. reporter: police now combing these dense woods for the escapees and issuing a chilling warning. just about every cabin or outbuilding in the north country has one or more shotguns or weapons. they re extremely dangerous. they re cunning. reporter: police found their dna o
