One of two Sarasota County COVID-19 testing sites was abruptly shut down on Monday, causing an overflow at the county’s only other testing site.
The drive-thru site, formerly located off of Cattleman Road, ceased operating on Sunday afternoon and remained closed on Monday.
G. Steve Huard, public information officer for the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, said in an email that the site was being moved to the Sarasota Kennel Club at 5400 Bradenton Road and would reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
That puts it just 2.1 miles away from the other state-run testing site at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, at 1845 34th St., with both clustered together in the far northern part of Sarasota County.
