HOLMDEL – Members of the Holmdel Township Committee have expressed “grave concerns … about public safety at the PNC Bank Arts Center and across Holmdel due to the new laws signed by Gov. (Phil) Murphy that reduce the penalties for underage drinking to written warnings and restrict the ability of law enforcement to enforce” those laws.
Township Committee members passed a resolution on May 25 putting their concerns on the record. Voting “yes” on a motion to pass the resolution were Mayor Greg Buontempo, Deputy Mayor Cathy Weber, Committeeman D.J. Luccarelli and Committeeman Prakash Santhana.

HOLMDEL – Members of the Township Committee have adopted a 2021 municipal budget that totals $26.01 million and will be supported by the collection of $14.85 million in taxes from Holmdel’s residential and commercial property owners.
During a meeting on May 11, Mayor Greg Buontempo, Deputy Mayor Cathy Weber, Committeeman Prakash Santhana and Committeeman D.J. Luccarelli voted “yes” on a motion to adopt the budget. Committeeman Tom Critelli was absent from the meeting.
No members of the public commented on the budget when given the opportunity to do so.

HOLMDEL – The Holmdel Ad Hoc Committee on Human Relations will not issue a final report containing recommendations for members of the Township Committee to consider.
Speaking during the April 27 meeting of the governing body, Deputy Mayor Cathy Weber, who served on the ad hoc committee, reported that the group’s members met, but could not reach a consensus on recommendations and would not issue a final report for Holmdel’s elected officials and residents to consider.
No members of the Township Committee responded to Weber’s comment about the ad hoc panel’s decision not to issue a final report.
Holmdel Township Committee members adopt rules for new off-leash dog area
HOLMDEL – The Holmdel Township Committee has adopted an ordinance that establishes rules and regulations for a new off-leash dog area at Bayonet Farms.
The ordinance was adopted during the committee’s April 13 meeting. Mayor Greg Buontempo, Deputy Mayor Cathy Weber, Committeeman Prakash Santhana, Committeeman Tom Critelli and Committeeman D.J. Luccarelli voted “yes” on a motion to adopt the ordinance.
No member of the public commented on the ordinance when given the opportunity to do so.
Generally, dogs in Holmdel must be kept on a leash, however, an off-leash area named the Alexander Ching Memorial Dog Park has been established by the township at Bayonet Farms in honor of late township resident Alexander Ching.
