Stops Along the Way
Motherâs Day, for most of us, is a special day on which we honor our mother for all she has done for us. We usually take that loved one to dinner, buy her flowers and cards, and gather the entire family around in celebration. It is a deserved expression of love.
However, for many of us, we can only honor Motherâs Day in remembrance of a loved one who has passed. I believe that it is right that we do this, that we stop and reflect upon what was given to each of us. Besides the gift of life, most of us would say our mothers gave us the gift of family.

Stops Along the Way
We were not wealthy people, but my mother believed it essential that her children receive a Catholic education. Subsequently and in rapid succession, I, along with my sister and brother, were enrolled at St. Tarcissus Catholic School in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
My older sister fit right into the regimen; my little brother was too young to notice, and I preferred playing football to religious instruction. In any event, one would have thought this would have been enough to satisfy my mother, but it wasnât. Her eventual goal was to have me and then my brother become church altar boys.
Kevin Corbett Kevin Corbett has joined Smith-Midland Corp. as its vice president of operations.
Mr. Corbett has responsibility for the Midland-based companyâs production, delivery and installation of precast concrete products and services. The company has plants in Southern Fauquier, North Carolina and South Carolina.
âHis experience leading large manufacturing operations and leading continuous improvement programs that improved the safety, quality, on-time delivery and costs at those operations will help Kevin as he leads our organization further along our path of continuous improvement through lean manufacturing,â CEO Ashley B. Smith said.
In 2015, Mr. Corbett joined Oldcastle Building Envelope, the largest glass curtain wall fabricator in North America, serving as plant manager in its Tampa and Westbrook, Maine ,facilities. While at Oldcastle, he studied and implemented lean manufacturing, a continuous improvement methodology that aligns with the Smith-Midland
Police seek Community Action Team applications The Warrenton Police Department seeks new at-large members for its Community Action Team, established in June 2020.
âThe mission of this team is to bring the local police department into the 21st century through adopting best policing practices, addressing neighborhood concerns, recognizing issues to protect citizens and community members in a non-biased way, reviewing incidents with sensitivity, respect, and objectivity, applying logic and truth to all commentary regarding incidents, and building community trust through transparency and accountability,â department spokeswoman Chai Fuller wrote in a press release.
âThe relationships formed by the Community Action Team (CAT 21) members will aid in fostering trust between the community and local law enforcement,â Officer Fuller added.
