I have always admired this institution which takes no federal funds. I was reading yesterday, and this i did not know, i didnt know you would ask that, i didnt prepare a statement but my wife showed me a literal group last night founded in 1844, i believe, and one of the first universities in america to admit black women. It is considered conservative but it is a good example of how, the best word i can use, is how twisted our vocabulary has been found. It was a conservative institution and the first to admit africanamericans and of course because that is what it stood for. You were human before you were a race, gender or class. I have this Organization Prager university which i founded 40 years ago and has a million views this year. We are trying to do fiveminute courses with the finest minds in america and the world, really. We are trying to undue the damage our universities are doing to be honest. We have a number of Hillsdale College professors or at folsom who will be on your show
Im very happy to speak with you this morning. My question i have memories of the vietnam war from my preschool days until it ended. I was unable to be enlisted at the time. What about the ability of the u. N. , even now, in the present days on the president s enactment of using such a body to enable peace . And to avoid conflicts that are not reported well. As i remember of my military service. That is my question. Guest it is a wonderful question. I wish it were asked time and time again. The relationship that everything we go through in the nation these days relates to, on one side the grit of conflict, and on the other side, the feeling that we ought to spend more time and effort in pursuit of a peaceful resolution of the problem, rather than immediately retreat into a feeling that since we are the strongest nation on earth with our weapons, we will be able to get our way. This gets back to for me this is the central heart of the book and our problems it does not work that way. Its
Presidency will look different to us in 20 years and different again 20 years after that. George w. Bushs presidency must be defined by that events of september 11, 2001, when the United States of america was vicious he attacked by an enemy whose leader, Osama Bin Laden skated as far back as 1983 that the United States stated as far back as 1983 that the United States was the mortal enemy of islam and must be destroyed. On 9 11 he declared that he would do whatever was necessary to protect our country, to keep it safe, and to keep it free. This became the mantra of the g. W. Bush presidency. President reagan had his mantra to bring down the soviet union and end the cold war. President lincoln had his, slavery. So did president bush. His golden war on terror kept us safe, and kept us safe. So lets start with that. President bush told the type of leader he would be at his except speech in august 2000 acceptance speech at the Republican Convention speech. I remember it well because i was
[captions Copyright National cable satellite corp. 2015] host welcome. I am an associate professor here at hofstra and i am pleased to be serving as moderator for this distinguished forum. A wars in iraq and afghanistan are arguably the most controversial and consequential decisions of the Bush Administration. The decision to go to war, how to get out of the wars, and related issues have not only dominated the bulk of president bushs time in office, but have also shaped current u. S. Foreignpolicy options in and around the regions. They will continue to do so into the foreseeable future. There is very little doubt that the wars in afghanistan and iraq will continue to be measures by which the legacy of the george w. Bush Foreign Policy will be measured. With that in mind, the conference organizers have brought together this outstanding panel of public servants, journalists, and scholars to examine the way the Bush Administration waged wars and the consequences of them. Each of our pane
What do you think is the bottom line in terms of what cbo needs and how should the Public Health community the thinking about it . William h. i think you should ask the former director before you ask me. This is going to sound like a bureaucratic response. As a former cbo staffer but resources, honestly. Resources. I know it is a throwaway, but the need to weigh come as part of this activity we met with cbo staff. I was shocked at the number of Journal Articles they have to go through every week. 1000 Journal Articles, if you can believe it, just to weigh in. I concluded out of that discussion that what they need is a watson ibm program to condense at least narrow it down so they can find out evidence which is replicable, scalable at the National Level. I note it is a throwaway, but they need resources if they will translate this into actual good evaluation of the policies and forth. I want to pick up on something that jeff said, though and bill, too, to some extent. The problem as i s
