And instead we embraced, and instead we returned to the truth that our parents and grandparents understood that the more a person learns the more a person earns. [applause] that a stronger middle class that a strong arer middle class is not the consequence of Economic Growth a stronger middle class is the cause of Economic Growth. [applause] im not even sure our parents and grandparents, democrats and republicans alike even had a word for that type of economics. They called it common sense. [laughter] in other words, the more money that workers earn, the better customers businesses have, and the better our economy grows. So together we actually, we passed the living wage. We raised the minimum wage to 10. 10 an hour. [applause] we made college we made college more affordable more more people and four years in a row without a pennys increase. We made our public schools, as tom mentioned the best in the country for five years in a row. We made it easier for people to vote and not harder.
I also think some of her work in Southeast Asia as well, something they timeout as an accomplishment as well, increasing stabilization across certain parts of that region. Those are some things we might talk about on the campaign trail. But president ial campaigns on the whole arent necessarily candidates who talk about accomplishments. They do talk about their vision for the future. Why that want to be president. And also it will be interesting when just the notion of accomplishments of any of the candidates over the last couple of years. We know congress has not been excellent at getting things done over the last couple of years. And then you have a lot of governor who oversaw their states during a pretty terrible economy over those last few years. Its going to be interesting to see how a lot of candidates talk about their accomplishments on the campaign trail. Running out of time in our segment here. I dont think it is very helpful. Thank you, madam chair for holding this hearing. I want to say at the outset i have an honor flight coming in shortly. I have somebody from bangladesh here. I was clair of this committeehair of this committee a while back. I went to yemen and mr. Connolly is right, there have been problems there for years. But i would argue that they certainly have gotten worse under the administration and you know it was this administration that claimed that yemen was a Success Story and clearly it has been anything but that. When we were on our way over there, there was an a terrorist attack on a graduation at the military barracks and over 100 new soldiers were murdered by terrorists. So its been going on for a while. But the problems in yemen are just incredible. I think the thing that is particularly disturbing is the iranian involvement there and around the region. Its four or five capitals now in the region that are controlled by the iranians. So its a very dange

So in the Community College today shes doing a discussion i think with the educators and students. Tomorrow shell be having some sort of business round table.
