Amy Henges arrived in Sumter County from New York almost two years ago with a wealth of counseling and educational experience.
In 25 years in the field, Henges has taught young children and been a counselor for K-12. Now at The Villages High School, Henges is among five area counselors honored recently by Lake-Sumter State College. It’s a dramatic difference in understanding what the students need to do for the college applications process, Henges said of the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s completely different for colleges now, what they’re requiring, but it’s also been a lot of changes in flexibility and how we present to the students and support them to make sure they have the classes they need.
