Seniors Raymond Slifer, of Quakertown Community High School and Upper Bucks County Technical School, Richard Su Fang, of Council Rock High School North, and Catherine Cavanaugh, of North Penn, were awarded the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholar designation by the U.S. Department of Education.
The three are among 161 American high school seniors and the only ones from Pennsylvania who received the distinction, awarded to those who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, artistic excellence, technical expertise, leadership, citizenship, service and contribution to school and community.
Slifer is Pennsylvania s first presidential scholar in career and technical education since its inclusion in the program in 2015.

LincolnHealth received its initial shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine late Tuesday morning and administered its first doses to front-line caregivers in the afternoon.
Leah Elias, MD, an Emergency Department physician, was among the first care team members to receive the vaccine at the clinic on the Miles Campus.
Elias said that getting the vaccine was an easy choice.
“There’s been a lot of unnecessary harm that’s come to people all over the world,” she said. “In order to stop this, we have to become immune to COVID-19 across our communities. This is important.”
