OK, time for some honesty … Is Valentine’s Day a “real” holiday? According to a new YouGov poll, the majority of respondents said it wasn’t. 57% of the more than 21,000 adults surveyed said Valentine’s Day was a holiday people wouldn’t celebrate it if it wasn’t pushed by “commercial entities.” Only 28% said Valentine’s Day was a “real” special occasion. But, hey, get this … Guys are slightly more romantic than women with 30% saying they think Valentine’s Day is a “real” special occasion – compared to 25% of women. The genders were pretty evenly split in thinking Valentine’s Day was a commercial holiday – with 56% of men and 58% of women agreeing. But even though we know that Valentine’s Day is a day to get people to spend money on flowers, cards, chocolates and more … 57% of respondents overall also said they had a positive opinion on Valentine’s Day. A new study recently suggested that the parasite called Toxoplasma gondii, which duplicates in cats and most frequently spreads through humans by means of raw meat, may increase the danger of having brain cancer in humans.
According to a Live Science report, this said finding now serves as another reason for people to cook meat and take care around cat litter.
In their work, the study authors found a relationship between the presence of T. gondii antibodies in the blood of people, specifying past exposure to the parasite, as well as the development of glioma, the most typical brain cancer type, after several years.
