on terror 2005 through 2010, this is the casket coming home, the flight that brought sergeant johnson back from dover air force base to south florida, delta airlines flight, the casket was offloaded and you saw his wife, pregnant with one of the other daughters right there, saying her last goodbye, her husband, the father of her children inside the casket, having given his life, the honor guard just behind him. this is something to remember. we lost the helicopter feed. that is the picture, you can see the honor guard behind as general kelly talked about, there is a casualty assistance officer with the family and for so many years, grew up without a
notification officer, a casualty assistance officer, you have to break this news on a very personal level. my mother-in-law, when she received notification, it s something you can t ever redo. and so you pray that it s done with a level of dignity and respect and with graciousness and immense amount of understanding. there s no empathy, we can t talk about empathy because have you not been there, you just simply have never been there. and so it needs to be done and approached in a way as described by john kelly. i can t belief he was able to describe that linear sequence of events as objectively as he did, but he sure put a point on what takes place for our military and our nation to honor their fallen. general marks, admiralcare by, zaire ray murray, stick around. we re going to take a quick break. we ll be right back.

this is felt very deeply, very deeply across the military family. again, they re sending chapla chaplains, assistance officers. the wounded are given access to walter reed such as the wounded in the war zone. for the military, just like the tragic shooting at ft. hood, this is best described as family business. this is the military family in the united states, whether they re civilians working for the department of defense or active duty carrying a weapon on the front line. this is the military family in this country and very much heartfelt that they look after each other. the chief of naval operations, the civilian head secretary of the navy moving very quickly yesterday afternoon to put all those procedures into place so that, as families were notified that their loved ones had been killed, there would be a casualty assistance officer, a chaplain available to them, and grief counseling, trauma
