Contra Costa County fire officials are investigating a fire that severely damaged a senior care facility and prompted evacuations of senior facility residents in Walnut Creek on Thursday afternoon, fire officials said.
Fire officials could not be reached on Thursday, but the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said on Twitter that their firefighters extinguished a second alarm blaze at the facility, located on the 1500 block of Castle Hill Road.

Firefighters on Thursday were battling a two-alarm fire at a senior care facility in Walnut Creek, according to the local fire district.
