The Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccination programme s roll-out started in Lisnaskea on Tuesday, with patients from the Maple Health Care Practice invited to the Castle Park Centre to receive their long-awaited jab. Speaking to The Impartial Reporter about the progress of the roll-out, GP Dr. John Porteous said: “We are getting on fine; we are working to make the progress run as smoothly as possible.” The practice in Lisnaskea, which serves the surrounding area, received 600 doses on the vaccine to vaccinate more than 500 of the over-80s who are patients. When they have all been vaccinated, the practice will then begin vaccinating the over-75s.
Following the introduction of additional restrictions across Northern Ireland by the NI Executive from Friday January 8 2021 to reduce the spread of coronavirus and to help manage the pressures on the health and social care system, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has provided an update on the operation of its services during this time. The following Council venues and facilities remain closed to the public, in line with restrictions: The Council’s four leisure centres – the Bawnacre Centre, Irvinestown; Castle Park Centre, Lisnaskea; Fermanagh Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen; Omagh Leisure Complex and associated outdoor sports facilities remain closed for sporting and leisure activities
THE Impartial Reporter had the privilege of speaking to some of the first patients in Fermanagh to receive the Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccination jab this week. Pensioners aged 80 and over who are patients of the Maple Health Centre in Lisnaskea began their vaccination period on Tuesday, and were happy to talk to this this newspaper about their experience, and how the process went. All of those contacted were in fine form when they spoke to The Impartial Reporter. Eric Cathcart (93), from Carrybridge, was one of the first people in Fermanagh to be vaccinated, and said he had “no trouble at all”.
