It started as a bit of a fun idea nearly 60 years ago but Knaresborough Bed Race is now one of the most famous free community events in the UK with 90 teams taking part in front of crowds of up to 30,000 people.
Another popular favourite planning its return to the local calendar is the Great Knaresborough Bed Race.

Organisers have announced the date for its return, after being cancelled last year because of the coronavirus, as Saturday June 12.
The Great Knaresborough Bed Race started in 1966 and is always on the second Saturday in June.
