Snow began falling early Thursday in New Castle County and is expected to continue until midday when it will change to sleet and freezing rain. A winter storm warning is in effect for New Castle County until 10 a.m. Friday. A less severe winter weather advisory is in effect in parts of Kent and Sussex Counties until 10 a.m. Friday where slick roads are expected as a result of snow, sleet and freezing rain.

Delaware News Journal Snowfall in northern Delaware is now expected to continue into Tuesday evening, after the National Weather Service extended a winter storm warning for New Castle County to 4 p.m. Tuesday.  Forecasters are predicting between 3 to 6 inches of new accumulation Monday night in New Castle County, with wind gusts as high as 35 miles mph. Commuters on Monday evening and Tuesday morning can expect reduced visibility and hazardous conditions. The heaviest snow will likely end by late Monday evening, with periods of light snow expected through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.   After a day of steady light snowflakes, northern Delaware on Monday braced for more snow as lower Delaware readied for heavy rain and high winds.
