Felony Animal Abuse Suspect Arrested After Assaulting Dog In Castaic
A Castaic man was charged with felony animal abuse Thursday after he allegedly assaulted his family dog.
Around 12:40 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the 28200 block of Branch Road in Castaic regarding a family disturbance call, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“During investigation, deputies learned the suspect had physically assaulted the family dog in past incidents,” Arriaga said.
The dog was removed from the home by Animal Care and Control pending further evaluation.
Bikramjeet Virk, 31, from Castaic, was arrested and charged with felony animal abuse, Arriaga added.
Murder Suspect Taken Into Custody After Castaic Traffic Stop
A murder suspect was taken into custody Friday afternoon following a Castaic traffic stop.
Around 12:30 p.m. deputies located a wanted murder suspect near The Old Road and Sloan Canyon Road in Castaic, said Lt. Ethan Marquez, with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“We had reports of a (murder) suspect in the Castaic area,” He said. “Units arrived and detained the person wanted for murder outside of L.A. County.”
The crime allegedly occurred in Kern County, according to law enforcement officials on scene.
Two additional people were detained however, deputies are investigating if they are connected to the possible murder, according to Marquez.
Bakersfield Resident Arrested For Carjacking, Assault In Castaic
A Bakersfield resident was arrested over the weekend on charges of a carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon in Castaic.
On Friday, Jan. 8, at about 9:40 p.m., deputies responded to The Old Road near Church Street in Castaic regarding a carjacking, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“Upon arrival, deputies contacted the victim and learned while the victim was seated in his vehicle east of The Old Road,” Arriaga said. “A male adult approached the front driver’s side of his vehicle, and struck the victim in the face with a hard object through his open window.”
