A refugee advocate who threw red paint towards Prime Minister Scott Morrison during a visit to the University of Queensland last year has pleaded guilty in a Brisbane court.
South Bank woman Tyler Michelle Hingst, 19, threw the red paint during the Prime Minister’s visit to UQ’s labs, where researchers were working on a COVID-19 vaccine.
She was among a group of activists who protested outside the facility on October 12 last year.
A handful of activists carrying banners splashed red paint over the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology Building at the university and circled the building, chanting “free the refugees” and “eight years too long”.
