A 38-year-old Crosslake woman died after an all-terrain vehicle crash Saturday, April 10, in the Paul Bunyan State Forest in Thorpe Township.
The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office received a report at 3:26 p.m. of a single ATV crash involving a female who was found unresponsive.
Deputies and medical personnel responded to the remote area on the Thorpe Tower Forest Road and located the crash scene. Cassandra Berg was pronounced dead at the scene, after a Nevis first responder and sheriff’s deputy performed CPR until North Memorial Health Ambulance arrived on scene. Extensive efforts to revive Berg were unsuccessful, according to the sheriff’s office.

An ATV driver was killed in a crash in the Paul Bunyan State Forest on Saturday.
According to the Hubbard County Sheriff s Office, 38-year-old Cassandra Berg of Crosslike was driving an ATV northbound on the Thorpe Tower Forest Road in Thorpe Township when she collided with an embankment and lost control.
Her ATV overturned and pinned her underneath, the sheriff s office says.
A member of the group she was riding with turned around to look for her, starting CPR when he located her.
