thinking in california. it s crazy here. crime is rampant and what this no bail policy does, encourages more crime. there s no deterrent, no punishment, and what he said is this is going to destroy law and order in california and i m glad he spoke out, i expect a backlash but it s a great moment for him to speak out. john: i ll tell you, the no cash bail system has certainly drawn an awful lot of criticism by people in some very official places. listen here. when you have a process that does not have any bail, 0 bail, you are really taking accountability out of the criminal justice system. he was released under 0 bail. without basically a pinky swear that he would return for his arraignment. he did not show up for his
policy made its return after a superior court judge issued a preliminary injunction based on the premise that it likely violates constitutional rights. according to the sheriffs department this will only impac those arrested for misdemeanors or nonviolent felonies. we should also know if somebody violates their bail schedule or a repeat offender, they ll be back on the cash bail system. john mckinney points out that both the sheriff and lapd s chief of police raised no objections when they have the chance. judge rivet made the point of saying he employed california officials like that sheriff the chief of police the district attorney the city attorney he implored them to testify to explain why he shouldn t issue this order and he was surprised when no one stood up to challenge it. the sheriff s department released a statement saying it will of course comply but will always prioritize public safety.
