Authorities in the UK should step up support for using energy derived from mine sites across the UK as a source of low carbon heat, according to a new industry-backed white paper.
Findings jointly published by the Mine Energy Taskforce and the government-funded ‘energy hubs’ investment project have called for the scaling-up of work to extract geothermal-heated water from mines to support the UK’s net zero ambitions.
