abortion ban, no abortions in the state of mississippi after the 15-week mark. so what should we read into what the supreme court may say about dobbs based on what they said in texas? five of the justices think it is unlikely there will be success on the merits in texas on the challenge to the six-week abortion ban. so when it comes to a 15-week abortion ban, that seems unlikely to be any stronger. in fact, what is also troubling about the court even taking this dobbs case, the court only takes cases where they think there s a genuine question that needs to be resolved. this is an identical issue the court has rejected in the past. the only thing that s changed is the makeup of the court. so there are at least five justices that concern me based on what they did yesterday in
it can be challenged down the road, but what is so upsetting and diabolical about the decision is the supreme court is hiding behind procedural complexities they want to see play out in the lower courts before they get involved. that might make sense except for the fact that while every minute that goes by, the rights of women are being violated. it flies in the face of something they did earlier this summer when they did intervene in a case in california when it involved religious liberty for that reason. so that suggests to me that the handwriting may be on the wall that they don t intend to give roe versus wade continuing life. it is a possibility that when the supreme court hears this case dobbs in the next term that may be the opportunity to overrule roe versus wade one of the things a court considers
