For Eastwood, tables are set for this time, next year

Someone should tell Eastwood baseball coach Kevin Leady he deserves a much-needed vacation.  Next year’s baseball season is going to be filled with high expectations, and he will have to prepare for that.  This year, his team went 26-4, tying a school record for wins, but it came with growing pains. Next spring, he gets nearly his entire team back. Eastwood finished second in the Northern Buckeye Conference at 11-3, but two of Eastwood’s league losses were in back-to-back games where the Eagles were shut out. “We had a really bad week. Welcome to baseball. We didn’t score,” Leady said.

(Press photo by Lee Welch/www.FamilyPhotoGroup.com) In Eastwood’s 5-4 non-league win over Maumee, junior catcher Andrew Arnston belted a two-run homer to the deepest part of the Panthers’ field in the third inning. That proved to be the difference in Eastwood’s third win of the season, coming after the Eagles swept a doubleheader over Tiffin Calvert.  Now the Eagles are 10-0 and Arnston is hitting .538 with three home runs, four doubles, 21 RBIs and 16 runs. In the win over future Northern Buckeye Conference foe Maumee, Arnston reached base three times, including on an infield single and an error, scoring twice.
