Legal guardians must bring documentation verifying their guardianship status to the child.“With COVID-19 cases rising in children across the country, OCCHD is excited that we can now help keep these young people safe from this deadly virus, especially as kids are looking forward to summer camps and vacations to visit families,” said Dr. Patrick McGough, OCCHD’s executive director. The Roman Catholic Church in the 1700s started private schools in Florida and Louisiana while in New York (a former Dutch colony called New Amsterdam), the Dutch West India Company and Dutch Reformed Church set up private schools that filled the void left by the colonies lack of an education system.

SWAN’S ISLAND – Barbara Gowdy Tongue passed away peacefully in her home Dec. 7, 2020. Born March 9, 1933 in Hartford, Conn. to Jane Faltin Gowdy and Richard Parsons Gowdy, Barbara grew up in the West Hartford area with her parents, brother David, and dog Inky.
She was a graduate of the Oxford School, Colby Junior College (now Colby Sawyer), and Katharine Gibbs School. She married Thomas T. Tongue of Baltimore, Md. in 1959, and they started their family at Avon Old Farms where Tom taught and coached.
