But he would come to public attention for all the wrong reasons, as one of Hull s most wanted criminals.
The 30-year-old is now beginning a 15-year jail sentence after plotting a sick, methodical rape when he met his victim on a night out and took her back to his flat.
As a fresh-faced teen in 2009, Leon Chantler joined The Ruperts, an already established alternative punk band in Hull who took to stages across the city, including the Adelphi in 2009 and FRüIT Music in Humber Street in 2011.

A former children s home manager has been accused of raping and sexually abusing a teenager who looked up to him as a father figure .
Paul Lamb, 73, who previously worked as a police officer at The Met, was dismissed from Brook Cottage in Driffield between 1984 and 1987 after historical allegations of child abuse.
Mr Lamb, of The Werkdyke, York, is currently standing trial at Hull Crown Court for 20 offences, including 16 counts of indecent assault, one of attempted indecent assault and three counts of rape.
